Skin Cancer Checks

One of the negative aspects of living in Australia is the effects that the sun can have on your skin. However, you can control how you monitor these impacts by protecting your skin with sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and clothing which covers your skin. Routine skin cancer checks are strongly encouraged as they can highlight any potential skin cancers which should be monitored or removed.
During a skin check, your doctor will use a dermatoscope to closely assess all moles or any visible abnormal growth of skin cells to ensure they aren’t harmful or have the potential to be harmful in the future. If anything concerning is found, an excision or biopsy can be booked and performed to remove it before it progresses or worsens. A standard appointment can be booked with the doctor to examine any particular moles or spots which appear abnormal to you if a full skin check isn’t due or desired. Any spots of interest found during examination will be analysed, recorded and monitored regularly if it is unusual yet not concerning enough to be removed promptly.
